Joel Quanbeck is a native North Dakotan.
He was born and raised on a cattle and small grains farm in Nelson
County, North Dakota. He is proud of his farming background because
it taught him a love for the land and the habit of working hard.
He still loves trekking through the fields and prairies and hearing
the first faint cries of migrating geese in the spring and fall.
He also enjoys restoring old homes, backpacking and canoeing,
and exploring new places.
Joel’s professional background includes several years at
the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Council of Governments, followed
by over a decade as a self-employed planning consultant. He presently
works at Ulteig Engineers, Inc. as a Senior Planner in their Transportation
and Municipal Services Departments. He has been a consulting planner
for townships, cities, and counties in North Dakota and Minnesota.
He is a graduate of North Dakota State University with a degree
in Sociology. His areas of emphasis included demographics and
research methods, community planning, emergency management, and
architecture. He is a professionally certified planner through
the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). |
